Cast & Characters - In Order of Appearance
Picture
Bill Shields is OTHELLO, After almost ten years here in Oliver, I have made three forays onto the stage with SOAP. This is a fun role to play, even though I'm "not a Moor!", but at least I get to smother my wife, Desdemona! Enjoy.

Picture
Donna Macbeth plays DESDEMONA Great to be back with SOAP!  After playing a movie impersonator, a crazy restaurateur, a psychic, a nagging know-it-all, a troubled psychiatrist and a sarcastic Southern diva, Donna is pleased to play a (surprisingly) bold and bloodthirsty warrior! "I'd join these ranks of spiked and fighting shes..." Enjoy the show and thanks for coming.

Picture
Kira Usher portrays JULIET & STUDENT, Kira is currently a high school student at SOSS, and has enjoyed participating in the school musical for the last two years. This is the first play she has acted in, and as a Shakespeare birthday twin, this has been a fun challenge/journey.

Picture
Gaven Das is ROMEO, Gaven Das is thrilled to be taking on the role of Romeo in Goodnight Desdemona, Good Morning Juliet with the South Okanagan Amateur Players (SOAP). Turning 20 this year, Gaven has been passionate about theatre from a young age and has truly found his place on stage. He first discovered his love for acting in 2019 when he appeared as an ancestor in The Addams Family. Since then, he has continued to build his experience in local productions, most recently performing as Dennis the Butler in The Play That Goes Wrong. Gaven especially enjoys bringing characters to life and connecting with audiences through performance. As someone on the autism spectrum, Gaven has found the stage to be a place where he can fully express himself and shine. His dedication, enthusiasm, and love for the craft are evident in every role he takes on.  Outside of theatre, Gaven enjoys playing video games, listening to music, bowling with Special Olympics, and spending time with his dogs. Gaven is grateful for the support of his family, friends, and the SOAP community, and is excited to continue pursuing his passion for acting.

Picture
Jackie Brockholm is CONSTANCE LEDBELLY Jackie is thrilled to return to the stage with SOAP Theatre. A proud member for ten years, she is usually found behind the scenes but is excited to step into the spotlight as Constance. She is grateful for the chance to keep growing as a performer.  She notes, with some amusement, that she shares a few “uncomfortable similarities” with Constance Leadbelly. She extends her heartfelt thanks to her family for their patience and support, and hopes you enjoy the production as much as she has enjoyed being part of it.

Picture
Frankie Quick is CHORUS & JULIET'S NURSE, Frankie studied visual arts at Emily Carr College of Art and Design. In subsequent years, dance was her artistic expression. She became interested in live theatre in 2022 when she performed on stage in SOAP’s production of Flaming Idiots. Since then, she directed SOAP’s production 7 Stories, sound tech for The Deception of Kathryn Vask and The Play That Goes Wrong, and assisted Props/set decoration for Steel Magnolias. This production is Frankie’s first time responsible for props, as well as returning to an on stage role as Juliet’s Nurse. She is so thrilled to be part of this ambitious play, and hopes that you enjoy this groundbreaking feminist comedy.

Picture
Vince Galea is IAGO, Vince is extremely grateful to be invited back with SOAP Theatre and to play a villain for a change! He would like to thank the cast and crew for their hard work and commitment to this production. Enjoy the show!

Picture
Ash Orr plays  MERCUTIO, RAMONA & SERVANT, This is Ash’s third play with SOAP. They were in the previous two plays, Steel Magnolias and Dracula. They are excited to be back taking on new types of roles.

Picture
Joe Rupcich is TYBALT, Joe has been around the block a time or two with SOAP. In addition to his acting skills, Joe also boasts mechanical skills that come in handy for set building and rehearsal space maintenance. His turn as Tybalt is bringing his swordsmanship up to par, not to mention his olde Englishe. Enjoy the show!

Picture
Neil Ritcey is PROFESSOR CLAUDE NIGHT & GHOST, Neil brings over 40 years of stage experience to this production, having performed in a wide variety of theatrical works over the years. Neil is also an avid beekeeper and student of Japanese language & culture. He is delighted to join this cast & hopes you enjoy the performance.

Picture
Seth Allenbrand is SOLDIER OF CYPRUS, Seth is joining us once again, this time in the crucial role of Soldier. Seth is an enthusiastic contributor to SOAP for one of such a tender age. He played the role of Most Enthusiastic Wolf in the fall production of Dracula and is a pro at moving scenery. He hopes you enjoy the show!

Message from the Director
Welcome! I am very grateful that you chose to support community theatre. In this moment when the world is rife with conflicts and wayward leaders, sometimes an evening of thought-provoking, funny and, yes, serious theatre can be a welcome distraction. SOAP has been part of the community for well over 30 years. Without your support, we simply could not exist. The same can be said for all of the countless volunteers, actors, backstage support, and our generous sponsors as well as our home, Venables Theatre. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this wonderful production, and to those watching tonight, please sit back and enjoy our production of Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet)!
